I'm in a bad situation with bills - any advice?

I have a full time job, I'm actively looking for an evening job to help with the bills, I don't have many valuables, but I am selling my washer and dryer.

My roommate skipped town. Left me with the entirety of our rent and utilities (not that she was paying the utilities near the end anyway). The apartment complex let me out of the lease and I've moved to a cheaper place to live. My power has been cut off because of my inability to get fully caught up with the bill since she quit paying.

I've cut out all my excess bills (cell phone plan is cut in half, etc.), I'm making crafts to sell on ETSY, etc.

My main question is: I'm trying really hard to be responsible. I don't know what else may be an option for me. I'm afraid to try to apply for a credit card to pay the bills, but I'm watching things start to crumble.

The overdraft fees and late fees are starting to really compound.

I don't know that I can talk to a charity since I'm not a dramatic case... if I had some help this month I'd be fine. I'm about to get a promotion at work that would put me back into a normal position.

Payday advance loans would just make the situation worse, I think.

Any suggestions on what I can do?I'm in a bad situation with bills - any advice?
';Payday advance loans would just make the situation worse, I think.';

Yes they will.

In this case I would first take an hour or three to come up with a budget, if you can make it threw this month you assume you will be back to a ';normal';, the problem is you are counting on something that has not happened yet. Unless your employer has already told you, you are starting this day on the new a specific day, you may get the carpet pulled out from under your feet.

The credit card actually sounds like a good idea if you only need to deal with it for a month. The thing about credit cards is that they rely totally on the person who holds them. I personally have 2 credit cards and have never paid interest on either one of them ever. The reason is because I always fully pay them off and I know my finances enough that I don't spend more than I have or will have.

But also look into cutting out everything unnecessary in your life.

You can also contact the companies you owe money to and request an extension in most cases. I know my insurance company will let me skip a monthly payment and then disburse it across the remaining months left in my contract. This is a feature I did not know about until I inquired, I only used it once because I had 2 insurance payments coming out the same day.

So explore your options you will find there is a lot out there, but always keep looking for that second job ;)
